On 14th April 2021, Arpa FVG hosted an online meeting about the Interreg-project CASCADE. More specifically, the meeting was on the deliverable 3.3.1, which is part of Work Package 3 - Action 3.3 of the project itself and named 'D 3.3.1 Report on design the optimal observing system for marine coastal environment characterization'.

Arpa FVG (PP4), in charge of coordinating this deliverable, provided instructions about how to set up and organise the document.

The main purpose of D 3.3.1 is to decide the experimental design and the methods that will be followed during the monitoring activities and future analyses and provide a detailed explanation of them. Procedures, techniques and tools have to be described meticulously and specific attention has to be paid to innovations and contributions useful to the project.

Numerous partners participated in this plenary meeting including the Lead partner (Apulia Region). Various aspects concerning the main theme were discussed together and in the end the activities regarding the organizational aspects were coordinated.

First of all, the structure of the deliverable was described in order to clarify the type of document requested. Specifically, a 7-point index was proposed as example to follow and each chapter was explained and deepened. Secondly, the main topics required were presented and clarified.

Furthermore, a draft version of Arpa FVG’s D 3.3.1 has been presented as an example and the main characteristics proposed and developed by Arpa FVG have been synthetically shown. In this case, it was planned to reach two different aims in the designated pilot area (P1) and both activities have been briefly explained in order to provide also practical examples. On one hand, one of the goals is to enhance the knowledge and contributing in the characterization of the shallow macrozoobenthic communities living on the meso-littoral and upper infra-littoral’s hard bottoms. On the other hand, another aim is to upgrade the modelling systems using oceanographic data. These records will be collected thanks to the multi-parametric probes purchased for the project.

Each partner will provide one document with the description of the activities that will be carried out in their pilot area/s and then Arpa FVG will be join all of them in one final document that will be submitted to the Lead Partner.

Moreover, a first complete version of this document was uploaded on a shared folder of the CASCADE project to all partners in order to help the drafting and obtain a more homogeneous, readable and interpretable final document. At the same time, an empty template was also provided if needed as a start for filling the deliverable.

Subsequently, delivery instructions and the updated deadlines were communicated too. Time constraints of the procedures operated by Arpa FVG and all partners were considered in order to rearrange and join the contributions into a single document for the Lead Partner (at the end of September 2021).

In conclusion, the partners had the chance to provide eventual suggestions and changes to the proposed document, as well as to ask questions regarding what was discussed.
